The Conversation Climate Poetry Award 2026

The Conversation UKs Climate Poetry Award invites academics to write a poem (between three and 40 lines) inspired by climate change research. Its open to those who have written poetry before and total amateurs alike.
Its the brainchild of The Conversation's arts and culture editor Anna Walker and environment editor Anna Turns as part of the Climate Storytelling series, which asks: how do we tell stories that move people, not just to fear the future, but to imagine and build a better one?
The competition kicked off in May with a free introductory climate poetry workshop led by poet Professor Sam Illingworth of Edinburgh Napier University.
